Elena Godiers, (b.1999) has been interested in fine art since childhood. Her parents taught her the value in drawing, as they are both talented architects. She grew up in Atlanta, and is constantly inspired by the evolving city skyline and growing neighborhoods. She realized her love for realistic, graphite portraits in high school, and was exposed to a wide variety of different mediums at UGA, where she eventually found her love for textiles and earned a degree in fabric design. Elena's woven work aims to capture the variety of structures fabric can hold, from delicate lace to durable utility canvas. She focuses on recycled fabrics and uses her dying, screen-printing, and surface design knowledge to transform used fabric into new works of art. She also enjoys pattern-making, as it combines her talent for illustration with her love for fabric. Her patterns are often inspired by industrial architecture and east-coast designers, with modern, exciting colors paired with cool neutrals.
